Credentialled Diabetes Educator | Diabetes Nurse Practitioner

Annette is a Diabetes Nurse Practitioner and Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE) with over 30 years of nursing experience, specialising in educating people on how to live better with diabetes. Working closely with Endocrinologist Dr Claire Morbey and the Hunter Diabetes Centre team, Annette can provide you with the skills needed to help you manage your blood glucose levels and avoid long-term complications. Annette is able to offer both practical advice and emotional support to help you understand and manage your diabetes more effectively.

Annette has facilitated 150+ insulin pump starts with Hunter Diabetes Centre having the largest number of pump starts in Australia for a private centre. Annette became a Registered Nurse through UNE and completed post-graduate studies in Diabetes Management and Education through Flinders University and her Master of Nurse Practitioner through the University of Newcastle.

Annette has been living with Type 1 Diabetes for over 35 years and is only too aware of how important diabetes education is. 

Special interests: Insulin pump starts and training, Continuous Glucose Monitoring starts and training, Gestational Diabetes Management, GLP1 starts, Insulin initiation.

Qualifications:

  • Master of Nurse Practitioner UON 2022
  • Completed post-graduate studies in Diabetes Management and Education through Flinders University 2013.
  • Registered Nurse through UNE 2010.
  • Certified Pump Trainer – Medtronic, AMSL, Omnipod.
  • Certified CGM Trainer – Medtronic, DexCom, Libre, L2
